Rx Place

Research and creation of a digital marketplace for local independent pharmacists

Summary

RxPlace removes that middle man from prescription sales between independent pharmacists and drug wholesalers. This allows pharmacists to purchase drugs at lower costs and faster shipping speeds, without the additional hassle of working with a salesman. City of Wind Design (CWD) conducted research and created branding, pitch deck design, and the prototype for the pharmaceutical marketplace. How might we create a tool that allows for optimum organization and purchasing power for pharmacists?

The Challenge

The pharmaceutical industry is a tough nut to crack with a structure system that hasn't changed in several decades. While large pharmacy chains reap the benefits from drug wholesalers for bulk pricing and shipments, independent pharmacists often have a difficult process of accessing these products in an affordable and timely fashion. With a lot of attention toward technological improvements in the healthcare and pharmaceutical industries, RxPlace took the opportunity to mitigate the sales process between drug wholesalers and independent pharmacists. The difficulty in creating a pharmaceutical platform is understanding what the pharmacists and drug wholesalers need in order to create a platform that is successful for both parties to use.

The Solution

User interviews with pharmacists and wholesalers were conducted to discover the wants and needs of both parties. The information gathered allowed CWD to identify gaps in the market that a platform could be built to address. By conducting research and collaborating with the client, our design team was able to create a MVP that allowed pharmacists and drug wholesalers to buy and sell drugs at lower cost to the pharmacist. While developing the prototype for the marketplace platform, our design team created branding and a pitch kit for the client to use for VC funding presentations.
